Board members are appointed by the local municipalities that form the Library district. These include the City of Marshall, Eckford, Fredonia, Marengo, and Marshall Townships except for those residing in Harper Creek School District. Board members are appointed to three-year terms.

The Library Board usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Library Meeting Room. The meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend. Marshall District Library will provide a sign language interpreter or other reasonable accommodations upon request to the Library Director one week prior to the meeting.
