Library Director
Welcome to the Marshall District Library!
Thank you for choosing to visit our website. Located in the heart of Downtown Marshall, the award-winning Marshall District Library continues a tradition of over 140 years of public library service to the greater Marshall community. Marshall District Library is tax supported by the residents of Eckford, Marengo, Fredonia, & Marshall Townships & the City of Marshall (except those located in the Harper Creek School District.)
Marshall District Library strives to be a welcoming community learning center through its programs, services, & collections. We partner and collaborate with many local organizations & businesses to provide information, events, & outreach in the community. We invite you to explore your educational and recreational needs at the library.
From our Large Print Collection to Teen Graphic Novels to our Early Literacy Space, the Marshall District Library is here to support all your interests. We also invite you to explore the subscription resources and media that we provide through our library’s website such as downloadable e-books, audio books, magazines, music, & films through the apps Hoopla, Libby, & Kanopy.
Take some time to discover our quality programming. We offer more than 50 programs each month, including early learning programs, after school engagement activities, and lifelong learning events. Consider joining us for field trips, community scavenger hunts, and large scale events such as the biennial “John Bellairs Walk” and biennial “If These Stones Could Talk” living history portrayal at Oakridge Cemetery.
Want to grow in your understanding of technology? Try one of our one-on-one technology training sessions. We offer sessions by appointment on everything from basic computer skills to using a new smartphone or tablet. We also offer Drop-In Tech Times twice each week as well as virtual and outreach sessions.
Interested in family and local history? Please take time to stop in to use the MDL History Center, a room in the library for conducting family research, seeking local history information, and starting their own digitization projects. You can also explore the history of Marshall and the surrounding areas from home. Marshall area newspapers from 1838 to 2024 are searchable through the Marshall District Library website. Please contact the library at 269-781-7821 to get the password for at-home use. We have also created and curated digital versions of county directories, plat maps, photos, church records, and other documents through the Marshall Digital Archive at www.yourmdl.org.
We love having visitors at the library and would be happy to help you find what you need. We are always interested in suggestions and feedback and would love to hear from you. You can contact me at 269-781-7821 x1100 or semiferoa@yourmdl.org.
Sincerely,
