Description
This collection contains a series of class photos and a souvenir booklet from the Red Brick School, or Brick School, in District 2 in Emmet Township.
This collection was donated to Marshall District Library by Richard E. Logan and includes a brief history compiled by Mr. Logan and dated March 1, 1998. According to this history, the school operated from 1896 to 1952 and accommodated students kindergarten through twelfth grade. The binder donated by Richard Logan also includes the publication "Proposed Reorganization of Schools: Emmett, Newton and Leroy Townships Calhoun County, Michigan." Based on events referenced in the publication, the estimated publication date is the spring of 1949.
Some individuals in photographs have been identified by Mr. Logan or other library users, but many are still unidentified. Please contact Marshall District Library with any information that might help identify the people in these images.
