Record of Church organization Second Baptist Church Battle Creek

We James Curtis and Joseph Skiperth do hereby certify that a meeting of the second Baptist Church and society of Battle Creek held at their house of worship in the village of Battle Creek on the 19th day of February AD 1851 pursuant to public notice given such society fifteen days prior to said meeting for the purpose of Electing three trustees to take charge of the Estate and property of such society and to transact all affairs relative to the temporalities thereof. We James Curtis and Joseph Skiperth were chosen by the qualified voters present to preside at such Election receive the votes and to determine the qualification of voters.

And we do further certify that Harrison Brown, John Simpson and John D Smith were duly elected by the qualified voters present at said meeting Trustees of said society Harrison Brown for three years John Simpson for two years and John D Smith for one year to be forever hereafter called and known by the name of the Second Baptist Church and Society of Battle Creek.
