Agreeable to notice given twenty one days before October first in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight for the purpose of organizing a religious society to be known by the name of the Universalist Class of Battle Creek and vicinity. Met in the Universalists Hall in the Village of Battle Creek. And appointed Wm Sias and Charles Mason moderators of sd meeting. Chose Charles Mason, Andrew Rees, _ W Phelps, John Potter, Asa Hutchinson, Joshua Robinson and Joseph Hayward Trustees. On being classed they drew as follows: Charles Mason and Andrew Rees first class. _ W Phelps and John Potter second class. Asa Hutchinson, Joshua Robinson and Joseph Hayward third class. D__ in Battle Creek in the day & year above written.
