At a meeting of the Baptist Church & Society of Ceresco consisting of more than five persons of full age who are desirous of forming themselves into a religious Society & who have signed articles of association for that purpose held at the School house in Ceresco in the county of Calhoun & State of Michigan in the 26th day of May A.D. 1855 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon pursuant to Public Notice given by the Rev LD Palmer the minister of said Church & Society to the congregation at least fifteen days & for three successive Sabbaths, in which said Church & Society statedly met for public worship ___ proceeding this day. Rev L.D. Palmer was appointed deacon & S.T. Palmer clerk & L.D. Palmer & Charles Alexander were duly nominated by a majority of the votes & appointed Inspectors of this election.
Whereupon the meeting there proceeded to elect by ballot the following persons for trustees of said Church & Society, & for the following terms to wit
James Newbre for one year
Denton Mott &
____ville Beardsley for two years
Charles Alexander &
Andrew Kincaid for three years

And it was resolved that the name by which said trustees & their successors in office shall forever after be known & called, shall be “the first Baptist church & Society of Ceresco.”

In this 17th of March A.D. 1856 before me a Justice of the Peace in afor said county personaly appeared Charles Alexander & Lysander D Palmer the Inspectors of Election ______ __ & who executed the forgoing certificate to me known and acknowledged that they executed said certificate for the purposes therein expressed, as their free act & deed.
